I'm here to help you scale your portrait business , and create real life balance without hustle and burnout .
Hi there! I'm Kim

If you’re stuck in that rollercoaster of boom and bust, and feeling like you’re either buried in back-to-back sessions or staring at an empty calendar for weeks on end – then today I’m going to show you how to break free and work in a more sustainable way with your marketing.
For most photographers, the problem isn’t their work (or their area, or their competition, or their pricing…..) – it’s simply the lack of a real plan to get more photography bookings, consistently.
Running low-priced, all-inclusive promotions just to get bookings, and hustling like crazy on the socials is exhausting and NOT a sustainable way to make an income from your craft.
And I’ll take a bet and say that you didn’t start your photography business to feel overwhelmed and underpaid.
You started it because you love photography.
You’re passionate about creating beautiful images and meaningful experiences for your clients. You’re in it to build something special, something you love, something that’s profitable and sustainable – on your own terms…..
But right now? It probably doesn’t feel like that at all.
Most photographers believe that if their work is good enough and they show up on social media often enough, the bookings will follow.
Here’s the truth: getting fully booked as a portrait photographer has far more to do with your marketing strategy than it does with your photography skill.
You can be an incredible photographer with a stunning portfolio and still have an empty calendar in July. Because potential clients don’t just stumble across your Instagram and immediately book. They need to be nurtured, guided, and given a reason to act now rather than later.
Without a real plan to make that happen, you’re left doing what I call messy marketing.
Messy marketing is what most photographers are doing when they don’t have a proper photography marketing system in place. It looks like this:Dropping prices just to get people through the door, and then resenting the sessions because they’re not profitable.
Saying yes to work you don’t actually want because you’re scared of the quiet weeks.
Posting on social media and hoping someone magically decides to book, without any clear call to action or follow-up system behind it.
Feeling demoralised when the tactics that sort of worked before stop working altogether.
Sound familiar? I’ve been there. Most photographers have.
The good news is there’s a completely different way to run this.
In my own portrait studio, we were booking around 40 sessions a month. Consistently. Month after month, regardless of season. Not because we spent hours a day on social media. We spent about one hour a month.
Not because we were constantly running promotions and deals.
We had a photography marketing system that generated consistent leads and bookings on repeat, and we worked it like a business instead of crossing our fingers and hoping for the best.
If you want to grow your photography business and get off the feast-or-famine rollercoaster, here’s what that actually looks like in practice.
Plan in 90-day cycles.
Stop thinking month to month and start looking 90 days ahead. What seasonal moments are coming up? Mother’s Day, back to school, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, EOFY. These are all marketing windows, and if you plan for them properly they become reliable booking periods instead of things you scramble to capitalise on at the last minute.
Think about how many sessions you need in this time and plan your marketing so that you can deliberately achieve this goal.
Sound like voo doo? Well the next step is the real magic.
Know your numbers.
This one is a game-changer. When you know your conversion rate, what percentage of leads turn into bookings, you can reverse-engineer exactly how many leads you need to hit your income goal. It takes the guesswork out completely. Instead of “I need more bookings,” you know the number of leads you need – so that you can get the number of bookings you require.
Use a mix of marketing channels.
Social media is one ingredient, not the whole recipe. In fact – it’s better used as a nurture layer than a marketing layer.
A photography marketing system that actually works includes offline strategies and local events, limited-time campaigns with real urgency, a referral system that your existing clients actually use, and local business collaborations that put you in front of your ideal audience without the algorithm getting in the way.
The photographers I see stuck in the feast-or-famine cycle almost always have the same thing in common: they’re relying on passive marketing and hoping it’s enough.
Passive marketing is posting and waiting. Active marketing is creating specific campaigns, running them with intention, and knowing exactly what results to expect.
When you have a strategy for how to get more photography clients consistently, everything shifts. You stop taking on sessions that drain you just to stay busy. You stop undercharging out of desperation. You stop feeling at the mercy of the algorithm.
You get to build a photography business that actually works for your life.
If you want consistent bookings without burning out, here’s where to start:
Market deliberately. Instead of running a campaign and hoping that it might work – learn thte strategy behind deliberate results, how to reverse engineer the results you desire. Start with the end in mind.
Build a referral system. Your happiest clients are your best marketers. If you don’t have a simple, structured way to ask for referrals and reward them, you’re leaving your most powerful marketing channel completely untapped.
Layer your marketing efforts. Local collaborations, community events, partnerships with complementary businesses. These channels are underused by most photographers and they can fill a calendar faster than six months of Instagram posting.
Plan your campaigns before you need them. Not the week before Mother’s Day. Not when you notice your calendar is empty. But while you calendar is still booked – so that you don’t have to wait until you’re in that reactive mode , or desperate mode.
If you want to book more photography sessions…
If you want to grow your photography business without burning out…
You don’t have to reinvent the wheel.
